Canada’s fintech founders have a compelling new opportunity at this year’s Startupfest in Montreal.
The Fintech Grant, a $75,000 non-dilutive cash prize funded by Digital Commerce Group and Apaylo, will be awarded to one standout early-stage fintech startup, offering a significant boost to help scale operations and expand visibility.
More than just funding, the grant serves as a launchpad—providing founders with exposure to investors, industry leaders, and the broader fintech ecosystem. The initiative is designed to accelerate the growth of promising Canadian fintech ventures while amplifying their stories and strategic connections.
To qualify, startups must be Canadian-incorporated private companies at the seed stage (pre-Series A) with a minimum viable product, market traction, and a clear path to revenue. Founding teams must also demonstrate domain expertise and an ability to scale.
Applications close on June 13, with ten finalists to be shortlisted by June 27. A limited number of wild card entries will also be selected on site during Startupfest.
Finalist pitches will take place on July 9 in the Startupfest Village, with each startup given five to six minutes to present and up to four minutes for Q&A. The top five will advance to a final round of deliberations on July 10, with the $75,000 winner announced at the festival’s closing ceremony on July 11.
While Startupfest does not guarantee investment awards, the track record is strong: over 95% of past Startupfest investment prizes—roughly 30 in total—have successfully closed.
Participation in the Fintech Grant requires a Startupfest ticket. Organizers are encouraging interested applicants to apply early and reach out with any questions related to eligibility or ticketing.
For Canada’s emerging fintech leaders, the Fintech Grant offers not only funding—but a platform for growth.
