LexisNexis, a global leader in AI-powered legal analytics, has announced the Canadian launch of its AI legal assistant, LexisNexis Protégé, alongside new enhancements to its Lexis+ AI platform.
Already deployed in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, Protégé is now available to legal professionals across Canada, promising faster and more accurate drafting, research, and client advisory work.
The personalized AI assistant is built into the Lexis+ AI workflow solution and will soon be accessible via Microsoft Word through Lexis® Create+. Protégé is designed to carry out complex, multi-step legal tasks—such as drafting transactional documents or litigation materials—while reviewing and improving its own output before passing it on for human validation.
“Protégé is like having a legal-grade AI co-counsel that empowers lawyers to focus on strategic, high-value work,” said Sam Puchala, President and General Manager of LexisNexis Canada. “We’re proud to bring this fully integrated platform to Canada to help our legal community achieve better outcomes.”
Among its standout features, Protégé can:
- Draft tailored transactional and litigation documents
- Suggest workflow actions based on uploaded documents
- Store and work within secure Vaults to manage thousands of legal files
- Create visual timelines from case documents
- Refine queries and proactively guide users to achieve results faster
Built with strict privacy, compliance, and security standards, Protégé also supports integration with document management systems like iManage and SharePoint. This allows legal teams to extract clauses and draft content from internal precedent libraries.
The Canadian release was shaped by feedback from local legal professionals through a customer-driven innovation program.
LexisNexis says its global technology platform is designed to continuously integrate emerging AI tools—including extractive and generative AI—ensuring its solutions remain on the cutting edge of legal tech.
With Protégé now available in Canada, LexisNexis is doubling down on its mission to redefine the legal workflow through secure, responsible AI.
