The Collision Conference is returning to its first in-person event in two years, marking Toronto’s Enercare Centre June 20 through 23.
The tech event will be the largest international gathering in the city of Toronto since prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, with more than 30,000 attendees expected to convene in Canada’s fintech hotspot.
“It’s a privilege to play an important part in Toronto’s reopening, as thousands travel from across the world to do business and meet each other again in person,” said Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO at Collision. “While we’ve successfully hosted Collision online for the past two years, with 140,000 virtual attendees, nothing compares to in-person events.”
Organizers say the event will host 250 partners, 900 speakers, 850 investors, and more than 1,000 startups, including 100 unicorns. Companies participating include Substack, Ethereum, Binance, BlockFi, and Vancouver-based Trulioo.
Canadian financial technology startups attending include FlyBits, Blossom, and Pocketed. Attendees will hail from 140 different countries, creating unlimited networking possibilities.
Overall, Collision will be a much-needed post-Pandemic boon for the region.
“Our province is home to the best and brightest minds in the fintech, biotech, AI, and life sciences,” said Vic Fedeli, Ontario’s minister of economic development, job creation and trade. “As we move past the pandemic and continue working towards Ontario’s economic recovery, Collision is exactly the kind of electric, forward-looking event that will help generate even more ideas and innovative solutions.”
Canadian speakers at the event include City of Toronto Mayor John Tory.
“This is an exciting moment for our city as we continue to reopen,” he said of the forthcoming event. “The decision from Collision to host an in-person event this year reinforces the confidence I have in our city and all that we have to offer.”
Collision is opportunity to showcase the “growing technology and innovation sector in Toronto and deep pool of diverse tech professionals—all of which will help create more employment opportunities and investments,” according to Tory, which will “ensure that we [the City] come back stronger than ever.
On June 20, Paddy Cosgrave will host Opening Night. And look out for Collison After Dark, where 5pm is just the beginning of things to come.
If you’re in town for the event, be sure to collide with Fintech.ca founder Rob Lewis, who will be attending.
