Walmart Creates Opportunity for Canadian E-Commerce to Expand Stateside

August 31, 2022 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Walmart is offering Canadian companies a straightforward approach to expanding stateside.

The retail giant announced that it is recruiting Canada-based sellers to join its flagship U.S. Marketplace, which serves a growing base of more than 120 million online shoppers each month.

“Canadian e-commerce sellers can now join Walmart’s online U.S. Marketplace and reach a growing community of more than 120 million U.S. consumers each month,” a description of the event reads. “Become one of first to explore this exciting opportunity by signing up for the Walmart Global Seller Webinar, Powered by Walmart and supported by Payoneer.”

Entrepreneurs and e-commerce sellers interested can sign up for a “Virtual Walmart Global Seller Summit – Canada” session, which takes place on September 8th.

The event will feature “practical sessions” and “actionable insights” hosted by Walmart executives and cross-border payments provider Payoneer. Attendees will learn how they can take advantage of simplified onboarding, streamlined fulfilment, targeted promotions, integrated financial services, etc. to help them scale and grow across North America.

“Building eCommerce marketplaces that both customers and sellers trust has been a priority for Walmart for years,” stated Walmart’s senior vice president of Marketplace development, Darren Carithers. “Whether you are an experienced Walmart seller or new to the Walmart family, we want to help you succeed on our U.S. and Canadian marketplaces.”

Carithers says Walmart is focused on growing its U.S. and Canada marketplaces and investing heavily in new tools and services for sellers, including Walmart Fulfillment Services and Walmart Connect.

“We are delighted to see more Canadian entrepreneurs and small businesses joining the global digital economy and selling to U.S. consumers on Walmart Marketplace,” added Ya Wen, senior vice president of Payoneer for the Americas. “Payoneer’s mission is to connect small businesses to the global economy. Our partnership with Walmart gives our sellers the opportunity to work with one of the biggest names in retail.”
