25 Fintech Startups That Should Be On Your Radar

July 11, 2023 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

After sifting through 150 applications, the organizers of the Digital Commerce Bank Calgary Fintech Award have announced the Top 25 startups competing for the 2023 award.

With an expanded scope that now includes startups from across Canada, these companies have risen above the competition and secured their spot to compete for over $300,000 in non-dilutive cash.

Fintech.ca reviewed the Top 25 startups and these four companies caught our eye.

Bidmii

Toronto’s Bidmii is a renovation marketplace that guarantees payment security for each party by holding payments in trust, eliminating stolen deposits for homeowners and reducing contractor accounts receivable by 98%. Google selected Bidmii for their 2023 Google for Startups Accelerator Canada program earlier this year.

Blossom

Vancouver’s Blossom is a social app for investors with over 30,000 Canadians sharing their portfolios, trades, and investing ideas in an inclusive and welcoming community. Blossom is working to become Canada’s first social brokerage, combining the app’s social features with a mobile-first investing platform. Techcouver named Blossom one of 10 homegrown B.C. startups to watch in 2023.

Propra

Calgary’s Propra is building autonomous property management. The software goes beyond streamlining and simplifying tasks. We are building an autonomous, hands-free platform so technology can take care of administrative tasks and financials so owners can focus on growth. Calgary.tech named Propra one of 10 homegrown Calgary startups to watch in 2023.

Yield Exchange

Vancouver’s Yield Exchange revolutionizes wholesale deposits with a frictionless GIC marketplace, providing speed, transparency, and access to competitive rates. With over 20 Canadian Financial Institutions on the platform, Yield Exchange has facilitated over $250 million in posted GIC requests. At the SaaS North conference last year Yield Exchange was selected from a group of top 10 finalists for The Firehood, winning $100,000.

Over the next six weeks, the top 25 startups will participate in workshops covering everything from investment readiness and software delivery, to market strategy, growth planning, and pitching — levelling up their game like never before.

The top 10 will be unveiled in September and start their preparations for a live pitch competition on October 3rd in Calgary.

The Digital Commerce Calgary Fintech Award Ceremony on October 4th with an unforgettable evening where the winners will showcase their hard work while taking home the top prizes.
