Lightspeed Commerce unveiled this week a new partnership with transportation giant Uber.
The partnership with see Uber Direct and Uber Eats integrated into Lightspeed’s platform, enabling merchants to take orders from the Uber Eats marketplace.
“We are incredibly excited to be announcing this strategic partnership with Uber, as we believe it unlocks incredible value for our hospitality customers,” said JD Saint-Martin, President of Lightspeed.
The restaurant industry “continues to face significant challenges with staffing and increasingly narrow revenue margins,” according to Saint-Martin, who posits the integration as one solution.
“This partnership is an opportunity to provide our customers some relief in the form of a world-class delivery network and cost savings plan,” he explains, adding that “this is only the first step in a long-term relationship with Uber.”
As a majority of consumers now expect fast and affordable delivery, Lightspeed’s one-stop commerce platform helps merchants simplify and scale through omni-channel customer experiences , according to the company. Cloud commerce solutions unify online and physical operations, including expansion to new locations and connection to supplier networks.
“On-demand delivery is now a core expectation for consumers, with 75% of them expecting express delivery as an option,” observes Bernie Huddlestun, who heads Uber Direct in North America. “Merchants are taking note.”

The integration is now available to Lightspeed Restaurant customers in North America, with additional markets to follow.
Lightspeed Commerce was founded in Montréal in 2005. Uber was established in Silicon Valley in 2010.
