The consumer mobile experience has been ranked in an annual review of Canadian banking apps.
Independent ranking firm Surviscor recently unveiled The Mobile Consumer Banking Review, which examines “the entire mobile journey, focusing on how customers navigate common banking tasks and processes.”
This year, CIBC secured the top spot because it “consistently delivers a smooth and reliable experience.” It was not the bank’s first time at the top, either.
“Being recognized as the highest ranked mobile banking app by Surviscor for the 7th time speaks to our team’s commitment to our clients and their mobile banking experience,” stated Michael Clabby, Executive Vice-President of Digital, Data, and Strategy for CIBC.
“We’re committed to continuously finding ways to add value to our clients who choose mobile to help them stay on top of their everyday banking and stay connected to their financial goals,” he added.
In second was TD Canada Trust followed by Scotiabank and Tangerine (which is owned by Scotia) in a tie for third.
Among the Big Banks, BMO scored lowest. Among credit unions, Coast Capital reigned supreme, placing 6th overall. The Review did not include challenger banks such as Vancouver’s KOHO or Toronto’s Wealthsimple.
Over the summer, top dog CIBC joined Creative Destruction Lab’s “Putting AI to Work” program. It’s part of “CIBC’s commitment to recognizing the transformative potential of AI,” according to Dave Gillespie, who serves as Executive Vice-President of Infrastructure, Architecture and Modernization at the Big Five bank.
CIBC also recently announced plans to fill 200 AI-related roles.
“At CIBC, our AI strategy is underpinned by a commitment to up-skilling our workforce and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning,” stated Gillespie in August. “This includes a focus on AI research and training for team members including senior leaders, to ensure that the entire organization is equipped to leverage the benefits of AI.”
CIBC currently has more than 48,000 employees serving 14 million clients worldwide.
