Nium Expands Real-Time Payments to Canada with Interac Integration

March 19, 2025 by Fintech Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Nium, a global leader in real-time cross-border payments, has expanded its payment network by integrating with Interac, one of Canada’s most widely used financial networks.

The move enhances Nium’s ability to facilitate instant transactions for businesses and individuals in Canada, reinforcing its strategy to build the world’s largest real-time payment infrastructure.

By leveraging Interac, Nium’s customers can now send and receive payments in Canadian dollars with near-instant settlement times, streamlining cash flow management and reducing transaction costs. The expansion is particularly beneficial for businesses handling international payments, as it enables faster cross-border transactions and greater operational efficiency.

“We aim to provide businesses with the most advanced payment infrastructure,” said Alexandra Johnson, Chief Payments Officer at Nium. “With Interac, we’re giving our customers access to direct integrations that offer faster ways to move money across borders and within key markets.”

The company’s global payment network now includes over 100 real-time corridors, featuring systems such as Singapore’s FAST, India’s UPI, and the European SEPA Instant. Most recently, Nium also launched real-time payment capabilities in Australia, further strengthening its international footprint.

As businesses increasingly demand faster and more secure payment solutions, Nium’s expanded network positions it as a key player in the global shift toward instant financial transactions.
