A Canadian financial technology startup has exited beta with the launch of its flagship product, an AI-powered financial assistant.
Vancouver-based Budgety is a modern money management platform built for people who want less judgment and more clarity, according to a statement from the emerging firm.
The B.C. startup’s offering, dubbed Buddy AI, is described as Canada’s first conversational financial assistant designed to help users manage their money with confidence and ease.
“People don’t need another budgeting app,” says cofounder Chisom Ezeh. “They need someone in their corner.”
Buddy AI “is that someone,” Ezeh says, “offering support, suggestions, and nudges that feel more like a friend than a financial advisor.”
Embedded within the newly released Budgety app, Buddy AI brings an AI-powered conversational layer to personal finance, leveraging real-world financial behaviour data and user feedback to deliver personalized insights.
Users of Buddy will be able to track their transactions across accounts, identify and adjust spending patterns, receive ChatGPT-style responses to questions about finance, and stay on track with various alerts and reminders.
The launch of Buddy follows a six month beta period that had 1,600 early adopters battle-test the tech.
Beyond Buddy, the Canadian fintech offers The Budgety Club, an integrated education and community platform through which users gain access to exclusive resources, financial literacy content, and peer support.
Buddy AI costs $3 per month for the Basic version, and $14 per month for a Premium Plan, which includes dual-currency support, custom options, and more.
The app currently boasts over 10,000 users who have tracked more than 10,000 transactions and created nearly 4,000 budgets.
