Montreal-based Mako has launched a custom digital onboarding solution with Odlum Brown, connecting client account opening directly to the independent investment firm’s Dataphile book-of-record system.
The integration supports Odlum Brown’s self-clearing operations, linking Mako’s workflow automation platform with the infrastructure supporting trading, clearing and settlement. The companies say the goal is to simplify onboarding while giving advisors more time for client relationships.
“Onboarding should make it easier for firms to serve their clients, without creating more work behind the scenes,” said Raphael Bouskila, Mako’s founder and CEO.
The platform allows clients to participate in applications or have advisory teams complete the information on their behalf. Its workflows adjust data and authorization requirements based on initial responses, while multiple applications within a household can be opened simultaneously.
Odlum Brown COO and CFO Peter Pacholko identified those capabilities as key to improving the client experience and reducing account-opening time.
Mako has provided cloud-based onboarding, client reporting and form automation to Canadian wealth management firms since 2018. The companies plan to explore further opportunities to simplify Odlum Brown’s workflows.
