Moneris Launches Mobile Point-of-Sale Feature to Streamline Digital Payments Across Canada

May 27, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

As the shift to digital commerce continues, Moneris Solutions Corporation continues to identify and invest in value-added services to offer to Canadian business owners.

For example, Moneris recently unveiled a new feature allowing businesses to accept digital payments more easily.

Toronto’s Moneris, a provider of solutions for mobile and in-store payments, this month introduced Tap to Pay on iPhone in the Moneris Go app, following the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone in Canada by Square.

“Tap To Pay on iPhone helps reduce some of the barriers to entry for new businesses, and enables existing sellers to create new ways to sell with nothing more than their iPhone and Square’s software,” Saumil Mehta, Head of Product at Square, stated recently. “With Tap to Pay on iPhone, we are further levelling the playing field for businesses of all sizes to be able to start, run and grow.”

Through Tap to Pay, Canadian businesses can now accept in-person payments securely from most major contactless debit and credit cards, as well as via digital wallets on the iPhone or Apple Watch such as Apple Pay.

Using an iPhone with the Moneris Go app, a merchant enters the sale amount, and a customer simply holds up their contactless card or payment-enabled device to complete a secure transaction.

“By including Tap to Pay on iPhone in the Moneris Go app, Canadian merchants can now easily complete a sale wherever and whenever a business finds an opportunity,” says James Hicks, the company’s new chief executive officer as of last year.

Whether it’s accepting payments at a weekend farmers’ market or a service-based business that wants to accept payment in person while on site, Tap to Pay gives business the freedom and flexibility to accept payments almost anywhere, according to a statement from Moneris, which processes more than one in three payment transactions in Canada.

“As Canada’s leading payment and commerce solution provider, Moneris is committed to delivering innovative payment and commerce solutions that provide Canadian businesses a simple, safe, and affordable choice for running their business,” stated Hicks.

Moneris collaborated with the TTC in 2023.
