Thirdstream Powers Digital Banking Enhancements for Toronto’s WealthONE

May 5, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Toronto’s Wealth One Bank of Canada announced this month that new “digital banking enhancements” will enable clients to open GIC, RSP, TFSA and high interest savings accounts anywhere, anytime, on any device in minutes.

“Our new online account opening process makes it easier than ever to join WealthONE Bank,” commented Barry Ferguson, WealthONE’s Chief Operating Officer.

Ferguson says the launch “represents another significant milestone as we continue to transform the client experience at WealthONE.”

The federally chartered Canadian Schedule 1 digital bank tapped Lethbridge-based thirdstream technologies for expertise.

“Our partnership with the Canadian fintech thirdstream technologies further elevates our digital banking capabilities and brings an enhanced level of convenience, security and easy access to our popular savings and investments products,” stated Ferguson.

Deploying the Microsoft Azure cloud, Alberta’s thirdstream provides digital account opening solutions, online and in-branch, serving financial institutions across Canada.

The fintech’s platform empowers institutions to configure their application onboarding process, ensuring regulatory compliance, identity verification, and fraud mitigation, all while delivering a personalized experience to the end user.

“Known for its user-friendly interface, the thirdstream platform makes it the ideal choice for WealthONE’s vision of enhancing accessibility and convenience for its rapidly growing client base,” says Keith Ginter, chief executive officer of thirdsteam.

“WealthONE’s decision to deploy this platform underscores its commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in financial services,” the CEO added.

The partnership between thirdstream and WealthOne began in early 2024, when the two companies first announced a collaboration.

“With thirdstream’s innovative technology platform, our new customers will enjoy a frictionless and superior account opening experience,” Ferguson stated in 2024.

“Our engagement together showcases how our platform delivers retail account opening onboarding services in a secure and seamless manner for our financial institution clients,” Ginter remarked at the time.

Thirdstream has also worked with Oliu, a digital ID verification services company.
