UK-based financial services firm Interpolitan Money has officially launched operations in Canada, appointing industry veteran Sonya Cléroux as its first Head of Country.
Based in Toronto, Cléroux will lead the firm’s Canadian expansion following its recent registration with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC).
Interpolitan, which provides premium alternative banking solutions to international businesses, private clients, and intermediaries, is making a strategic push into North America. The FINTRAC approval allows the firm to offer multi-currency cross-border accounts to Canadian clients—a core part of its global offering.
Cléroux brings over 20 years of experience in foreign exchange, payments, and international business development. She previously led the Canadian launch of Monex and played a key role in scaling several high-growth fintech firms in the region.
“Sonya’s deep knowledge of the Canadian financial landscape, combined with her proven track record in launching and growing international financial services in the region, makes her an ideal fit to lead our efforts in Canada,” said Anoop Nair, Interpolitan’s Head of Banking Relationships and International Expansion. “Her appointment represents a significant milestone in our global growth strategy.”
Cléroux said she was drawn to Interpolitan’s client-first approach and its focus on navigating complex cross-border financial challenges. “I’m excited to lead the charge in Canada and bring our distinctive offering to clients who need something beyond traditional banking,” she said.
The move signals Interpolitan’s long-term commitment to building a presence in North America, as it continues expanding its regulated footprint and global banking infrastructure.
