Toronto-based legaltech company Ownright has launched a new Developer Platform designed to embed legal closing services directly into the tools and workflows of Canada’s rapidly expanding proptech sector.
The platform, unveiled today, provides a suite of APIs and tools that allow real estate technology providers to integrate Ownright’s trusted legal services into their own applications. As the Canadian proptech market grows at an expected 17.6% compound annual growth rate through 2030, Ownright aims to provide the foundational infrastructure needed for a digital-first, seamless client experience.
“Buying a home is one of the biggest moments in someone’s life, and we want to make that experience better, not just through Ownright, but by supporting the platforms people already trust,” said Robert Saunders, co-founder and CEO of Ownright. “This launch is about helping our partners grow by giving them the tools to build smoother, more transparent closing experiences right into their products.”
With the Developer Platform, proptech companies can automate legal referrals, track transaction statuses in real time, and receive webhook notifications at key milestones—enabling more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly experiences for agents, buyers, and sellers alike.
Buy.ca, a tech-focused real estate brokerage, is among the early adopters. “In an industry often slowed by outdated processes, their transparent and user-friendly closing experience has been a breath of fresh air,” said Buy.ca CEO Senthu Velnayagam. “Now, with the launch of their developer portal, we can integrate Ownright directly into Buy.ca’s search platform and enhance our planned client portal.”
The launch marks a major step in Ownright’s mission to streamline homeownership and modernize real estate transactions across Canada through embedded legal infrastructure.
