Global Awards Recognize Canadian Banks for Digital Innovation, Technology

July 28, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

The Global Transaction Banking Innovation Awards recently recognized some of Canada’s Big Banks.

The annual Awards affair, organized by The Digital Banker, celebrates preeminent banking institutions and their contribution to transaction banking by identifying and distinguishing best-in-class performance, innovation, and execution across the vertical.

CIBC won the Best Gen-AI Initiative award and the Best Digital Transformation Program award.

In 2025, CIBC launched the Smart Library, a self-serve tool that enables team members to search and work with internal content using natural language, and also the Agents Marketplace, a centralized platform that allows users to create custom agents that automate tasks, as well as browse and share agents across the bank.

“We are embedding AI and digital tools into the way we work to reduce time spent on administrative tasks, improve access to information, and help our teams spend more time on higher-value activities that benefit our clients,” says Jaime Tatis, Executive Vice-President, Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence Officer, CIBC.

“This recognition reflects CIBC’s thoughtful and practical approach to AI and digital transformation,” stated Tatis.

2026 marks the third consecutive year that CIBC has won The Digital Banker’s Best Gen-AI Initiative award: the bank was recognized in 2025 for its CIBC AI platform and in 2024 for its Knowledge Central pilot.

This year, Scotiabank was recognized for Best ERP Integration Initiative in Canada and Best Digital Treasury Management Initiative in Latin America, while TD won Best ERP Integration Initiative for USA and RBC won Best Virtual Account Initiative for Canada.

All four banks—plus the Bank of Montreal—recently dominated this year’s list of LinkedIn’s Top Companies, which highlights 25 workplaces for professional career growth in Canada.

And in addition to being top workplaces for career advancement, Canada’s largest banks are also the country’s biggest brands.
