The Canadian Fintech Summit took place in Toronto this week and the highlight of the conference was the Pitch Battle Competition.

Presented by Canadian VC firm Framework, the Canadian Fintech Summit is an annual gathering of fintechs, investors, enterprises, financial institutions and service providers.

The Pitch Battle competition included a lineup of curated, high quality fintech startups from around the world pitching the audience.

Pitch Battle contestants were separated into two streams, one sponsored by EY and one by Scotiabank, to pitch their business, innovation or idea followed by a Q&A with expert VC and corporate judges.

The EY Pitch Battle included pitches from Zengines, Hypatos, Incode, FindBob, Authentic.Art, Yazz Money, VigilantCS, Happily.ai, DatumXpress, and Optimity.

The Scotiabank Pitch Battle included Tribevest, Walnut Insurance, Redport, Coinmiles, Ubineer, Jybe, Bōde, MARVL, Obsiido, and Financial Information Automation.

EY’s Alex Mohelsky announced their winner Hypatos and presented the award to CEO Dr. Uli Erxleben along with a $30K prize package of EY advisory services to help fuel their growth. The German startup has ties to Canada through with Series A investment from Framework in 2022.

Montreal’s Coinmiles won the Scotiabank Pitch Battle for their reward platform that allows users to earn digital rewards like Bitcoin or cash when they shop online, in-store, or when they travel.
