For tax accountants, the busiest time of year can involve as much document chasing as tax preparation.
Edmonton-based Taxformify is tackling that administrative burden with workflow software designed to help solo accountants and small tax firms collect client information, organize documents, and monitor the progress of every return.
The platform combines an adaptive client questionnaire, automatic document reminders, AI-powered expense categorization from bank statements, and a summary showing where each client file stands.
Its questionnaire changes based on a client’s answers, while the expense tool categorizes bank transactions using CRA and IRS codes. Together, the features are intended to reduce the emails, phone calls, and manual follow-ups that consume firms during tax season.
Taxformify was founded by Edmonton economist Rashad Bayram and co-founder Ruslan Abdullayev after Bayram watched three accountant friends struggle with the same problems year after year.
“They looked like they had five tool problems,” Bayram said. “They had one workflow problem wearing five disguises.”
Rather than adding another disconnected application to an accountant’s technology stack, Taxformify aims to bring the different stages of client intake and document collection into a single workflow.
The Edmonton startup is now gaining recognition for that approach. Taxformify was recently selected from 59 applicants as one of Edmonton Unlimited’s 10 Companies to Watch for 2026.
