Montreal-based fintech Zūm Rails is expanding its embedded finance offering with the launch of Mastercard-powered prepaid card programs, designed to transform how Canadian businesses move money and manage payments.
The reloadable prepaid cards allow businesses to streamline expense management, accelerate wage access, deliver consumer rewards, and enable real-time disbursements. Companies can issue branded prepaid cards that operate in near real time while avoiding the complexity of traditional financial infrastructure.
“At Zūm Rails, we believe money should move at the speed of business, and we’re making it easier for businesses to embed smarter, faster payments into their operations,” said Miles Schwartz, CEO and Co-Founder of Zūm Rails. “With our Mastercard powered prepaid card programs, companies can now offer branded, reloadable prepaid cards that move money in near real time without the complexity of traditional infrastructure.”
The collaboration with Mastercard gives businesses access to a global payments network spanning over 200 countries, helping them unlock new product verticals, extend brand reach, and build stronger customer loyalty.
New Payment Capabilities
- Expense Management: Businesses can issue co-branded reloadable prepaid cards to employees, enabling near real-time disbursements and spend tracking.
- Faster Wage Access: Workers and contractors can gain quicker access to wages through prepaid card payouts, improving financial flexibility.
- Branded Consumer Experiences: Companies can create reloadable prepaid cards tailored to consumers, with benefits such as credit-building support for underserved customers.
Zūm Rails will manage the entire program lifecycle, including onboarding, compliance, transaction processing, and customer support. Businesses can fully customize the cards with their own branding and connect them to Zūm Rails’ existing payments infrastructure for instant reloads.
“Mastercard is proud to support Zūm Rails in delivering modern, embedded payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadian businesses,” said Balinder Ahluwalia, Senior Vice President & Group Head, Market Development & Digital Partnerships at Mastercard Canada. “Together with Zum Rails, we’re helping companies unlock new ways to move money and serve their customers.”
With this launch, Zum Rails is positioning itself as a key player in Canada’s evolving payments landscape, bringing speed, flexibility, and embedded finance to the forefront of business operations.
