Calgary-based Digital Commerce Bank (DCBank) has become the first financial institution in Canada to launch Interac e-Transfer Cards, introducing a more personal and expressive way for Canadians to send money.
The new feature allows users to wrap everyday transfers—covering everything from rent and dinners to shared expenses—with customizable animated messages. Through DCBank’s APIs, online banking portal, or digital wallets, businesses and individuals can integrate and send digital cards designed for birthdays, celebrations, thank-yous, or simple everyday gestures.
“Sometimes sending money isn’t about what you owe—it’s about what you feel,” said DCBank CEO Jeffrey Smith. “Interac e-Transfer Cards make it easy for Canadians to express themselves in meaningful ways while doing something they already do every day.”
Interac executives say the launch reflects a broader shift toward digital-first financial experiences.
“We are thrilled to launch Interac e-Transfer Cards with DCBank,” said Glenn Wolff, Group Head & Chief Client Officer at Interac Corp. “Canadians are embracing digital-first experiences that feel personal, seamless, and deeply woven into everyday life.”
By introducing the country’s first personalized e-transfer card experience, DCBank continues to position itself as a leader in digital banking innovation, blending convenience with creativity in one of Canada’s most widely used payment methods.
