Padder has been named the winner of this year’s $100,000 Fintech Grant following a multi-stage pitch competition at Startupfest in Montreal.
Founded by Daniel Moss, Padder describes itself as Canada’s first guarantor-as-a-service platform. The fintech helps non-traditional renters qualify for housing while providing property owners with greater financial confidence and protection.
Moss secured the award after pitching Padder’s technology and its potential to address housing accessibility, one of Canada’s most pressing challenges.
Padder will receive $95,000 in non-dilutive cash funding alongside an Osler Startup Package valued at $5,000.
Created by Digital Commerce Group in 2025, the Fintech Grant targets private Canadian fintech startups operating around the seed stage with a minimum viable product and demonstrated market traction. Ready Plan Go received the inaugural grant last year.
Padder emerged from a field that was narrowed through multiple rounds of pitching during the three-day Startupfest. This year’s other finalists were Tedy, ClearCost, Parsor, and Access2Pay.
The grant was made possible with support from Apaylo, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and Outlier Compliance Group.
